Trousers and its intricacies

Trousers are in addition to the jackets with their striking lapels often perceived and cuts only at second glance. However, they are characterized by different degrees of fineness and can round out the overall appearance at the right design - or adversely affect. What are pleats, whipped leg seams and how to actually recognize a good shock band? This article deals with these and other questions about the suit pants.

Crease or pleat?

Often there is confusion about this - because while a correct crease belongs to any suit pants, and ideally should just run down the leg, so that your knees and shoes are striped center, pleats are in no way mandatory. In a pleated trousers at the waist of the pants wrinkles are set that ensure that the pants on sitting and thus is very convenient. According to taste, the number of folds will vary. In general, one says this version of the pants after a more conservative effect. An alternative to pleated trousers, the trousers with a flat front. This is cut smooth, therefore not quite as far and sometimes not quite as convenient as a crease, but for the fit is second to none. While pleated trousers tend to be tailored with slanted pocket opening, this is recognized in straight pants with a flat front.

Food or no food?

Made suits are often no longer tailored with food, so that one here has at most the opportunity to seek sew a lining in the pants afterwards. Higher quality and tailored suits on the other hand usually have an inner lining that extends up to the knees. If desired, for example, a wool allergy, the pants can be also fully lined. Thus it is of course warmer, but the skin does not have direct contact with the outer fabric more. This can also be advantageous if you do not have wool allergy, because natural products are perceived on the skin of many people uncomfortable.

Trouser seams, heel tape and satin ribbons

The trouser hem of dress pants can be tailored either with or without surcharge. Typical variation is without surcharge. Only for men that are very large, the surcharge is recommended, as this legs look shorter. Regardless of the impact of the trouser legs should be provided with a liner tape. The task of the shock bands is to protect the trouser hem from wear. For this purpose, it should be made of a solid material and so sewn it slightly overlaps the trouser legs, thereby preventing scuffing. At very festive suits, such as a tuxedo, is usually sewn on the side of the legs, a satin ribbon. This underlines the festive effect especially.

The pants are not a dominant part of the suit. But to save you disappointment later, shall be before any suit purchase give some consideration to make the pants according to the occasion and your own preferences.
